My Endearing Appalachia
About Me
My first experience in writing was a self-published book of humor, because I had read much of Erma Bombeck’s zany stories. I kept thinking I could do the same--and I did. Homespun Yarns; Tales to be Told from the Front Porch Swing was a hit, and it fulfilled my dream.
My love of writing continues, and the people who are the subject in many of my works are also my friends.
Appalachian Life magazine published an excerpt from my memoir,
and the excerpt was picked up by the Appalachian Journal section of the Mountain Messenger in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
I had an article published in the Blue Ridge Traditions magazine
After attending the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference, I had three articles published in the Wesleyan Publishing House, Sunday School material.
The Charleston Daily Mail has published two articles, “A Tranquil Weekend at Pipestem Resort State Park” and “The Stranger at the Foot of the Mountain."
West Virginia Public Radio station broadcast an essay I submitted on their Inside Appalachia segment entitled: Fond Memories of a Mountain Childhood in Appalachia.
I am an Appalachian daughter who loves to write and craft stories of real life. My aim is to share heartwarming anecdotes from personal experiences. The kind that feel as though a window bench with pillows and sunlight would complete the ambience.
I am also a dedicated homemaker who loves to provide specialties of favorite foods when our children and friends visit. Homemade breads are a must here as are the special occasion cakes and other desserts.
I have found that by reaching out to neighbors over the years that friendship is about time...and the willingness to share it. And it becomes the material from which I write.
