Maggie, our lovely Magnolia tree has shed her leaves to prepare for another fragrant spring of lovely white petals. So,
We decided to get the golden leaves of the Magnolia tree raked yesterday. We went out, wide leaf rakes in hand, I on one side of the yard, hubby on the other side. It was a planned meeting together with our ‘harvest’.
I love to rake the leaves…the leaf rake is wide, with tines that make it easy to gather them in very wide sweeps.
Dark clouds were forming as we sat in our lawn chairs to rest a moment. All the leaves were in a huge pile, ready to be put in truck bed. Hubby wanted to load them all, then back the truck down to the fence and sweep them into the field. Shortly the wind began to stir and the sky became darker. He questioned about whether or not to continue; it could rain too much and the truck could spin coming across the wet yard.
I said, “let’s continue and get the leaves loaded.”
So we filled the truck bed as the dark clouds continued and the wind picked up. Scooping leaves, loading the truck bed. Still no rain. We finished the task without a drop of rain…
When we went inside I shared with hubby that we had just lived out this passage from Ecclesiastes 11:
If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth--- He who observes the wind will not sow,
And he who regards the clouds will not reap.
As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, so you do not know the works of God who makes everything. So, in the morning sow your seed, in the evening do not withhold your hand; Stay focused for you do not know which will prosper, Either this or that,
I enjoyed my afternoon outdoors with Maggie.
This is a lovely picture of Maggie as she is welcoming spring. And the fragrance of her pure white petals surrounds our house and includes the deck out back.
What a lovely spring beginning when this picture was taken!
